A Very Distinguished Gentleman. Combining classic graphite texture with a touch of woodland whimsy. This piece captures a serene, dapper amphibian relaxing amidst the foliage in his finest attire.

The Process & Materials

This piece was drawn by hand using a mix of charcoal and graphite pencils in a sketchbook. The charcoal brings out those deep, dark blacks like on the top hat and coat, while the graphite handles the smooth shading and fine lines on the frog and background leaves.

By keeping it strictly black and white, the focus stays on the small details, line weight, and shading. Up close, you can really see the pencil texture and paper grain coming through, but from further back, the whole character just pops off the page.
